The Western Regional Water Reclamation Facility is a new Greenfield wastewater treatment plant with a design average daily hydraulic capacity of 20.0MGD and a design peak hydraulic capacity of 30.0MGD.  The project is located on an 150 acre site off State Route 20 in Western Boone County.  A 102" plant influent line will feed the main preliminary treatment building which consists of fine screens and presses, bar racks, grit removal and classification units.  Four cast-in-place rectangular aeration basins will be constructed divided into three 120' long x 41' wide x 16' side water depth chambers consisting of fine bubble membrane disc tapered aeration systems.

Three final clarifiers will be constructed each with a 130' inside diameter x 14' side water depth.  An ultraviolet disinfection facility will be constructed to also include the effluent channel and parshall flume and cascading aeration ladder.  The aerated effluent will be conveyed to the Ohio River.  Other process facilities include two sludge holding tanks, a sludge pump building, a sludge processing building, a blower building, a plant effluent building, RAS/WAS pump station, plant drainage pump station, grit pump station, scum pump station, and two bio-filters along with an administration building and a maintenance building/garage.  Construction began in March 2009 with final completion set for late 2012.
